One of my espresso essentials these days have been countless bouquets of peonies. It’s their season and I’ve been lucky enough to be able to have them delivered during the lockdown by my florist.
But anyway, men or women, who doesn’t love peonies? I have this book at home, called “The language of flowers” (Le langage des fleurs) that says the following for peonies:
A peony in a bouquet will be a proof of the sincerity of the feelings evoked by the other flowers from the bouquet. It is a way of showing one’s good will.
“Peony” comes from Paeon, the doctor of the Greek Gods, who used this flower for treating Pluton, injured in his fight with Hercules.
In China, the peony is a symbol of wealth and honor and it is worshiped by the people who have been growing it for more than 2000 years.
For photography lovers, peonies are a true blessing: they provide endless inspiration for extraordinary photos. And this is how they inspired me:
Pour mes lecteurs français, je vous laisser (re)découvrir un reportage unique que j’ai réalisé avec un des plus grands producteurs de pivoines d’Alsace: Monsieur Jean-Marc Schneider, le Maître de Pivoines.
Thank you for reading,
